In June 2014, Nematron Corporation was acquired by Comark. This strategic acquisition strengthened Comark’s position in the industrial automation market with both an established product line and distribution channels. Nematron’s highly engineered products are primarily focused on the severe and hazardous industrial automation markets and carry a number of 3rd party approvals required to participate in this space. Nematron’s operations have been fully integrated into Comark’s Milford, MA headquarters.
Going forward, Comark will retain Nematron as our brand primarily targeted at severe and hazardous industrial automation applications.
In December 2014, Total Control Solutions (TCS) was acquired by Comark. This strategic acquisition bolstered Comark’s capabilities to custom design industrial computers to meet the specific needs of OEM’s in the industrial automation market. TCS’s operations have been fully integrated into Comark’s Milford, MA headquarters.
Going forward TCS will be rebranded with the Comark brand, while retaining all of the former capabilities TCS offered.
In July 2017, Data Ltd. Inc. (DLI) was acquired by Comark. The combination of Comark and DLI brings the consolidated customer base an industry-leading choice of industrial computing solutions. 3rd Party Agency Certified Compliance
UL/cUL 508 (now UL 61010)UL 508a is the safety standard for Industrial Control Panels and is recognized internationally by the UL Mark. Nematron brand industrial computers and industrial displays have been tested and certified, meeting all UL 508 safety standards for industrial control equipment, which means that they have passed certification for UL 508a Panel Shop to install Nematron brand industrial products into their control panel systems. Nematron brand industrial products bear the UL mark of safety. cUL refers to the Canadian equivalent to UL 508 for safety and is based on CSA 22.2.
UL/cUL Class I, Div 2 Hazardous Locations (ANSI/ISA 12.12.01) Stringent standards of safety must be met in order to bear the UL mark of safety in Class I, II, & III, Division 2 Hazardous Locations environments. Electrical equipment to be used in classified hazardous locations are tested to ensure they do not initiate an explosion due to arcing contacts or high surface temperatures. Nematron brand industrial computers and displays meet these strict safety standards and are approved for use in hazardous areas in North America. cUL refers to the Canadian equivalent to UL Class I, Division 2 ratings for safety and is based on CSA 22.2.
IECEx International Safety Compliance (Includes ATEX certification) IECEx is an international standard by which industrial products are verified to be compliant with IEC international standards of safety in hazardous areas. Comark is an approved supplier of ISO 9001 certified manufactured industrial equipment and offers a selection of Nematron brand IECEx certified industrial computers and displays that bear the IECEx mark of conformity and have been certified for use in international hazardous locations.
UL864 9th Edition Life Safety Compliance for Fire Alarm Systems In accordance with NFPA standards, UL864 standards cover the compliance of control units being installed in fire alarm systems providing monitoring, control, and notification functions. Comark offers a robust selection of UL864 approved computers and displays and keep stringent configuration control on all system assemblies to maintain compliance for the life of the product.
UL/cUL 60601 Medical Compliance Comark healthcare computers and medical panel PCs are designed for use in medical device applications and healthcare settings. These products and systems meet medical certifications including UL/cUL Medical 60601-1 version 3, greatly simplifying the certification requirements for the medical application. Comark medical computers systems include long life Intel embedded processors and industrial components for the longest life cycle support and long-term availability.
EN50155 Certification for Transportation Applications Comark specializes in computer and display solutions for the transportation industry including train, railway, light rail vehicle, and rolling stock applications. Comark can accommodate the requirements for any specialized train computer or display. Comark offers rapid product development and EN50155 certification for operator displays, NVR, passenger counter computers, digital signage controllers, door monitoring computers, and other train and railway applications.
ABS Type Approval based on IEC 60945 A selection of Comark military and marine offshore products have gone through ABS Type Approval testing, which designates these products for use aboard an ABS-classed vessel.
MIL-STD 810 Standards Testing The U.S. Military Standard (MIL-STD) 810 testing standard is the standard by which Comark Military products have been tested and certified for use in military applications. With testing for temperature, humidity, sand & dust, immersion, and shock & vibration, Comark ruggedized military computers and display are designed with durability and reliability in mind. In addition, MIL Rugged products are required to meet requirements set forth by MIL-STD-461 for EMI and EMC compliance, MIL-STD-167 for specific shipboard vibration, MIL-S-901 for Shock survivability and others.
NEMA/IP Rating The National Manufacturers Electrical Association (NEMA) produces a set of standards used in North America by which electrical enclosures are graded based upon their level of protection against environmental hazards such as water, dust, oil or atmospheres containing corrosive agents. Ingress Protection (IP) is an international method of rating enclosures against ingress protection based on IEC60509. While similar to NEMA, IP ratings require different test methods. Comark certifies that the industrial panel displays and monitors are compliant with NEMA 4, 4X, 12 and/or IPXX standards. See specifications for the specific NEMA/IP rating per product.
CE Marking Compliance The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that products meet the requirements of the applicable European Union directives and can be sold within the European Economic Area. CE is a worldwide recognized mark of conformity. Nematron branded products are certified to meet all CE requirements.
FCC Marking The FCC mark is a certification mark required on electronic products manufactured or sold in the U.S. which certifies that the electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the device is under limits approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Comark products are tested to meet FCC Part 15 subpart B Class A at a minimum and in certain cases are certified to Class B and bear the FCC mark and to show compliance with this standard.

In-House Testing Capabilities
To ensure that our products will operate reliably in the most challenging environments, Comark maintains in-house environmental testing laboratory equipment that is also supplemented by outside resources, as required. In-house testing includes temperature & humidity, vibration and EMI.
Comark products are assembled in Milford, Massachusetts in our 60,000 square foot facility. Every aspect of our manufacturing process - from inventory management to parts obsolescence to assembly and testing - is carefully planned and then executed with precision.
Our suppliers are a critical component of the business value stream in satisfying the end customer. It is our goal to engage in suppliers that provide value by providing top quality product and services, on time and to a competitive market price.
We are an ISO 9001 Certified Company and have processes in place to qualify suppliers and measure on-going performance. All suppliers are responsible to flow all Purchase Order requirements to sub-tier suppliers as required and as applicable.
Due to the competitiveness of the industrial ruggedized computer market, suppliers are highly encouraged to continuously improve their processes in order to drive down product cost which can be passed on to COMARK and to our end customer.

Temperature and Humidity Testing
To meet MIL-STD-901D, Comark uses outside labs to perform lightweight, medium weight, and barge testing. We perform tests on major components early in the design cycle to mitigate risk at the system level.
