What is 5G?

Fifth generation (5G) is the newest global wireless standard, following 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G (current) networks. 5G is expected to deliver higher speeds (up to s 20 gigabits per second (Gbps) by some estimates) and much more network capacity, allowing higher bandwidth data to flow more easily. It also features ultra-low (below 5 milliseconds (ms)) latency, ideal for real-time applications. In addition, it will include more reliability and increased availability, which many expect will lead to a dramatic explosion in Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
